So many times we have heard those words from campers and families who have been touched by Clearwater's camping tradition. For more than 75 years, Clearwater Camp has helped girls grow through the instruction and support of caring counselors and staff. Girls between the ages of eight and sixteen come to Tomahawk Lake each summer in north central Wisconsin to experience the beauty of nature while living in the Northwoods. Life-long friendships have had their start here for generations of girls.

Tomahawk Lake surrounds the camp. A picturesque footbridge connects the mainland to a five-acre crescent shaped island where our older campers live.

Clearwater is a residential camp for approximately 120 girls between the ages of eight and sixteen. Founded in 1933 by Sara Holiday ("Halokwe") Sprague, Clearwater was under the direction of former Executive Director Sunny Moore, once a Clearwater camper and counselor herself, for more than 40 years. Laurie and Perry Smith trained under Sunny Moore and are currently Co-Directors of the Camp and oversee the day-to-day running of all Camp activities.

The camper/staff ratio, 4:1, insures that campers receive the attention they need during their time at Clearwater.
 

Accredited by the American Camping Association and regularly inspected to insure compliance with the standards established by the Association, Clearwater is a camp that nurtures and allows girls to grow with confidence.

At the same time, Clearwater campers learn what it means to be part of a team, whether canoeing across a lake, making their first campfire dinner or working as a cabin group to create a skit for Talent Night.
