“It takes a special individual to be a counselor at Clearwater
Camp.” This is more than a trite phrase from our brochure, it is a
requirement. We seek to preserve a place where kindness is kindled,
respect is recognized and valued, unconditional love flourishes, God
is reverenced, childhood is cherished, integrity is instilled,
resourcefulness is required, new strengths are revealed, worth is
discovered, and confidence and character are built.
What does it take to be a Counselor at Clearwater?
 |
Applicants must have completed their freshman year in
college. Some Clearwater counselors have finished their
degrees.
|
 |
The following Certifications are highly desirable:
Basic First Aid
CPR
WSI - Water Safety Instructor
Lifeguard training
WFA – Wilderness First Aid
Certification in any specialty (water-skiing, archery,
canoeing, riding, etc.)
Certifications only cover the surface of what Clearwater
expects from its counselors.

Each member of the Clearwater staff is selected not only for
her maturity and skill level but also for her commitment to
young people and her belief in the value of a camp
experience. The staff at Clearwater Camp is entrusted each
summer with 120 girls from varying backgrounds and
locations.
|
 |
Under the directorship of Sunny Moore, Laurie and Perry
Smith, the staff is expected to exemplify the true camping
spirit and ensure that each camper is afforded every
opportunity for growth and exploration during her stay at
Clearwater.
